On Sunday, February 16, Mumbai Indians announced Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman as the replacement for the injured Allah Ghazanfar for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Mujeeb will join the franchise for INR 2 crores. His inclusion comes after Ghazanfar’s back injury, which has sidelined him for at least four months, ruling him out of both the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and IPL 2025.

Mujeeb has played 19 matches in the IPL so far and last featured in the tournament in 2021 for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Before that, he played three seasons with Punjab Kings (PBKS).

The franchise announced Mujeeb’s inclusion on social media platform X. The five-time IPL champions shared the news and wished a speedy recovery for the injured Allah Ghazanfar.

The post read, “Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the Afghan off spinner has been signed by Mumbai Indians as a replacement for Allah Ghazanfar who has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to an injury.

Mujeeb has played over 300 T20s games taking closer to 330 wickets at an economy of around 6.5. Mumbai Indians wish Ghazanfar a speedy recovery and a warm welcome to Mujeeb into the #OneFamily.

Mujeeb has taken 63 wickets in 49 T20Is for Afghanistan at an economy of just 6.33 and an average of 18.11. He has also represented Afghanistan in various ICC tournaments, including the 50-over and 20-over World Cups.

The BCCI is yet to announce the schedule for IPL 2025.
