PBKS, RCB, GT, and MI have qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs.
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is all set to witness its climax with the playoffs. The IPL 2025 playoffs will commence on May 29 with the Qualifier 1 match. After thrilling 70 games during the league stage, Punjab Kings (PBKS), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Gujarat Titans (GT), and Mumbai Indians (MI) have qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs.
PBKS and RCB have finished in the first and second spots, respectively, in the points table after the league stage. Shreyas Iyer is the skipper of PBKS, while Rajat Patidar leads RCB. Both of them won nine matches and lost four games out of 14 encounters.
Both teams’ one match ended without a result. Hence, they finished with an equal 19 points in their kitty. However, PBKS had a slightly better Net Run Rate (NRR) than RCB. Now, both of them will clash in the Qualifier 1 match.
Shubman Gill-led GT finished in the third spot in the points table with 18 points. Out of 14 matches, they won nine games and lost five. Hardik Pandya-led MI captured the fourth spot in the points table with 16 points. They clinched victories in eight games but lost six out of 14 matches. GT and MI will clash in the Eliminator.
Notably, PBKS and RCB will get two opportunities to book a berth in the final. The winner of Qualifier 1 will secure a direct place in the playoffs. The team that loses the match will get a chance to reach the final by winning Qualifier 2.
