RCB defeated Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 final to lift their first ever IPL trophy.
Finally after a wait of 18 years, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) achieved their dream of winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) when they crushed Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2025 final by six runs on Tuesday, June 3.
Notably, RCB made it to the finals of the tournament three times earlier, but couldn’t lay their hands on the trophy. They lost the final for the first time in the 2009 edition, the second season of the tournament. Later, they also lost the final in the 2011 and 2016 seasons.
Virat Kohli has been part of the RCB since the inaugural season in 2008, and he eventually added an IPL trophy to his kitty in IPL 2025. Celebrations began in the RCB camp after the victory. Former RCB members like AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle also joined the RCB players after the match to celebrate the victory.

The celebrations haven’t stopped as the Rajat Patidar-led side will conduct an open bus parade in Bengaluru to celebrate their triumph on Wednesday. The franchise revealed about the same on their official account on X (formerly Twitter).
The parade will start at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru and conclude at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium – the home ground of the team. The time for celebration will be 3:30 PM IST. More details about the event will be announced soon.
Meanwhile, the final of IPL 2025 between RCB and PBKS was a nail-biting clash, unlike the Qualifier 1 encounter where RCB completely dominated PBKS. After being asked to bat first, the Rajat Patidar-led side piled up 191/9 in the first innings with Kohli’s top knock of 43 runs.
Later, they restricted the Kings to 184/7 in the second innings to clinch a victory by just six runs. Spinner Krunal Pandya won the Player of the Match (POTM) award for his fabulous spell in the final. The left-arm spinner hunted two wickets for 17 runs across his four-over spell.
