IPL 2025: List of all players retained and released by MI; Remaining purse value details

Rohit Sharma has been retained by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025.
The five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have retained their core from last season ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction.
Current captain Hardik Pandya and former captain Rohit Sharma have been retained, despite their disappointing performances last season. Pandya, who got traded from Gujarat Titans to MI ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, led the franchise last season but had a terrible season as they finished at the bottom of the points table with only four wins in 14 games.
Pandya and Rohit, though, avenged themselves by helping India to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 crown. Rohit has retired from T20Is but might have one or two more IPL seasons in him left.
Further, the other two predicted retentions are of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who is now India’s T20I skipper.
Mumbai last won an IPL title in 2020. They have reached the playoffs only once in the last four seasons as they have had to struggle with injuries to some of their key men while also dealing with changes in the coaching and leadership departments.
