On October 31, Thursday, all ten Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises revealed their retentions for IPL 2025. While plenty of expected names like MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli have been retained, a few high-profile players like Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant have been released.
A few players agreed for a lower salary compared to last season to be retained. However, there are others who have seen a mind-boggling hike in their salary for IPL 2025 from last season.

7. Rinku Singh – 55 lakhs to 13 crores (2264% hike)
Rinku Singh featured in the retention list of the reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders. The franchise retained the left-hander for INR 13 crores.
Rinku was with KKR for just INR 55 lakhs last season, and he has bagged a massive hike of 2264%. He has been a great find for the franchise and is gradually establishing himself as a key player for Team India as well.
6. Shashank Singh – 20 lakhs to 5.5 crores (2650% hike)
Shashank Singh had a blockbuster IPL 2024 season for Punjab Kings as he ended up scoring the most runs for the franchise. The right-hander showed great maturity and played some crucial innings, taking his side out of trouble multiple times.
He was bought for INR 20 lakhs in the IPL 2024 auction and has been retained for INR 5.5 crores for IPL 2025, getting a hike of 2650%.
5. Sai Sudharsan – 20 lakhs to 8.5 crores (4150% hike)
Sai Sudharsan broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar in IPL 2024 and became the fastest Indian to score 1000 IPL runs. That is enough to tell the quality of the young left-hander.
He played for Gujarat Titans for a price of INR 20 lakhs last season and will be paid INR 8.5 crores in IPL 2025. Sudharsan received a hike of 4150%.
4. Mayank Yadav – 20 lakhs to 11 crores (5400% hike)
Young Indian fast bowler Mayank Yadav made headlines in IPL 2024. With his extreme pace and high bounce, Yadav bagged two consecutive Man of the Match awards in his first two matches for Lucknow Super Giants.
Mayank recently made his debut for India and did well. He was on a contract of INR 20 lakhs last season and now LSG has retained him for INR 11 crores, which is an incredible hike of 5400% from his previous salary.
3 Rajat Patidar – 20 lakhs to 11 crores (5400% hike)
Rajat Patidar joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru as a replacement player in 2021 but now has become one of the first-choice retentions.
Patidar played for RCB for INR 20 lakhs until last season and now has been retained for INR 11 crores, getting a salary hike of 5400%.
2. Matheesha Pathirana – 20 lakhs to 13 crores (6400% hike)
The Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana caught the eyes of the Chennai Super Kings scouts who roped him in IPL 2022. He made match-winning contributions in CSK’s title-winning campaign in IPL 2023.
The pacer has been retained and will get a salary of INR 13 crores for IPL 2025, which is a 6400% hike from his previous salary of INR 20 lakhs in 2024.
1. Dhurv Jurel – 20 lakhs to 14 crores (6900% hike)
Wicket-keeper batsman Dhurv Jurel was able to bag the biggest salary hike among the players retained for IPL 2025.
Jurel was with Rajasthan Royals for INR 20 lakhs in the last three seasons but now has been retained for INR 14 crores, which is a salary hike of 6900%.
