IPL 2025: Squads of all 10 teams after mega auction

IPL 2025 is scheduled to start on March 14.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, held over two days in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, concluded on November 25. The iconic two-day event saw all ten franchises entering into bidding wars to shape their squads for the next few seasons.

Indian players dominated the mega auction, with Rishabh Pant making history and becoming the most expensive player in IPL history with his move to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 27 crores.

Punjab Kings (PBKS), who entered the auction with the biggest purse of INR 110.50 crores, made significant moves, buying three big Indian names for hefty sums – Shreyas Iyer (INR 26.75 crores), Arshdeep Singh (INR 18 crores) and Yuzvendra Chahal (INR 18 crores).

Before the mega auction, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had mandated every team to submit their list of retained players by October 31. Each franchise was allowed to retain up to six players, either through direct retention before the auction or via RTM card at the auction with a maximum of five capped players and two uncapped Indian players. 

Another twist this year was the reintroduction of the Right to Match (RTM) card after the 2018 mega auction.

In 2018, the rule allowed a team to use the RTM card to match the highest bid placed on a player who was part of their squad during the previous season. However, in the 2025 auction, the franchise that placed the original bid had one more opportunity to raise the bid for the player even after the team with the RTM card had used it.
