IPL 2025: Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rovman Powell to rejoin KKR squad ahead of big clash against RCB

KKR will face RCB on May 17 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the opening match of the second round of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on May 17. The encounter will take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Notably, KKR will have their three crucial overseas player back in their squad ahead of the match.
Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Rovman Powell are set to rejoin the squad by Wednesday (May 14) or Thursday (May 15) in Bengaluru. All these West Indies players are currently stationed in Dubai. KKR mentor Dwayne Bravo, who is also with the trio in Dubai, will rejoin the KKR camp. All these West Indies players left India after IPL 2025 was suspended on May 9.
Notably, Afghan player Rahmanullah Gurbaz is currently in Kabul. He will also join the KKR’s West Indies contingent in Dubai and return to India with them. South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje will fly back from the Maldives. Spinner Moeen Ali is in the United Kingdom, while Spencer Johnson is in Australia. They are also expected to return to the tournament.
KKR face RCB in a must-win game on May 17
Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR needs to win the match against RCB on May 17 to keep their playoffs’ hopes alive. If they lose the match, they will become the fourth team to be eliminated from the playoffs’ race.
Ajinkya Rahane & Co. are sixth in the IPL 2025 points table with 11 points. They have won five games and lost six out of 12. One of their matches ended in no result. They can qualify for the playoffs only if they win their next two games.
However, they are still dependent on the results of other teams. They will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 15 in their last league game of IPL 2025. The Knight Riders are the defending champions of IPL 2025.
