IPL 2025: Top 10 teams with highest purse available for mega auction
All the teams have submitted their retention list for IPL 2025
The retention list for IPL 2025 has been released by all 10 teams. After the much-anticipated confirmation by teams, the focus now shifts to the purse available to all these teams before the mega auction.
While many teams have locked in their core players, others have decided to let go of several big names. The IPL 2025 mega auction is expected to be held between the last week of November to mid-December.
Some top names like KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant have been released by the franchise.
On that note, let’s take a look at the purse available for each team.
Top 10 teams with the highest purse available for IPL 2025 mega auction:
10. Rajasthan Royals – 41 crores
RR will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction with INR 41 crores. The franchise has retained six players: Sanju Samson (18 Cr), Yashasvi Jaiswal (18 Cr), Riyan Parag (14 Cr), Dhruv Jurel (14 Cr), Shimron Hetmyer (11 Cr) and Sandeep Sharma (4 Cr).
They reached the playoffs last season but failed to reach the final.
9. Chennai Super Kings – 45 crores
CSK will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction with INR 45 crores. The five-time champions have retained five players: Ruturaj Gaikwad (18 Cr), Matheesha Pathirana (13 Cr), Shivam Dube (12 Cr), Ravindra Jadeja (18 Cr) and MS Dhoni (4 Cr)
Dhoni has been retained as an uncapped player, with the BCCI bringing back the rule that allowed a capped Indian player to be retained as uncapped if he has not played international cricket for the last five years.
8. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 45 crores
SRH will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction with INR 45 crores. Having finished as the runners-up last season, SRH have kept most of their core players.
SRH have retained Pat Cummins (18 Cr), Abhishek Sharma (14 Cr), Nitish Reddy (6 Cr), Henrich Klassen (23 Cr) and Travis Head (14 Cr).
7. Mumbai Indians – 45 crores
Five-time champions MI will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction with INR 45 crores. Mumbai have retained five players: Jasprit Bumrah (18 Cr), Surya Kumar Yadav (16.35 Cr), Hardik Pandya (16.35 Cr), Rohit Sharma (16.3 Cr) and Tilak Varma (8 Cr).
Pandya is set to continue as the MI captain despite the team finishing last in IPL 2024.
6. Kolkata Knight Riders – 51 crores
KKR will enter the mega auction with INR 51 crores. The franchise has parted ways with their captain Shreyas Iyer, who led them to their third IPL title earlier this year.
KKR’s six rerentions are Rinku Singh (13 Cr), Varun Chakaravarthy (12 Cr), Sunil Narine (12 Cr), Andre Russell (12 Cr), Harshit Rana (4 Cr), and Ramandeep Singh (4 Cr).
5. Gujarat Titans – 69 crores
GT will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction with INR 69 crores. The Ashish Nehra-coached franchise has retained five players: Rashid Khan (18 Cr), Shubman Gill (16.5 Cr), Sai Sudharshan (8.5 Cr), Rahul Tewatia (4 Cr) and Shahrukh Khan (4 Cr).
Under new skipper Gill, Gujarat finished eighth in the points table last season.
4. Lucknow Super Giants – 69 crores
LSG will enter the mega auction with INR 69 crores. Lucknow have released their captain of the last three seasons, KL Rahul. Pooran is likely to become the new LSG skipper.
LSG’s retentions are Nicholas Pooran (21 Cr), Ravi Bishnoi (11 Cr), Mayank Yadav (11 Cr), Mohsin Khan (4 Cr) and Ayush Badoni (4 Cr).
3. Delhi Capitals – 73 Crcrores
DC will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction with INR 73 crores. Surprisingly, Delhi have not retained their skipper Rishabh Pant.
DC have retained four players: Axar Patel (16.5 Cr), Kuldeep Yadav (13.25 Cr), Tristian Stubbs (10 Cr) and Abhishek Porel (4 Cr)
2. Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 83 crores
RCB will enter the mega auction with INR 83 crores. RCB have spent INR 21 crore to retain Virat Kohli. They have released their skipper of the last three editions, Faf du Plessis.
RCB’s three retentions are Virat Kohli (21 Cr), Rajat Patidar (11 Cr) and Yash Dayal (5 Cr).
1. Punjab Kings – 110.5 crores
PBKS will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction with the highest purse of INR 110.5 crores. Punjab have retained only two players: Shashank Singh (5.5 Cr) and Prabhsimran Singh (4 Cr), both uncapped. They’ll look to build a strong team at the auction with the highest purse available.
