IPL 2026 auction: Prithvi Shaw shockingly goes unsold despite base price of 75 Lac

Prithvi Shaw was unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction and the same was case for him in IPL 2026 auction.
In what was the most shocking start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, Maharashtra batter Prithvi Shaw failed to get any bids. The bidding event for the next edition of the league is underway at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on December 16.
Prithvi Shaw, who had a base price of INR 75 lac, was the third player who came in the IPL 2026 auction for bidding. However, no one raised the paddle for him as he went unsold for the second straight time in the auction, having gone unsold last year at the mega auction as well.
This came as a massive shock as Prithvi Shaw has been in decent form in the Indian domestic circuit. Also, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) head coach Abhishek Nayar had mentioned that he would love to work with Shaw.
With KKR having the largest purse of INR 64.30 crore, it was expected that he would be picked by the three-time champions. But that wasn’t the case as he went unsold yet again, which would be the big heartbreak for him.
Prithvi Shaw played for Delhi Capitals in IPL from 2018 to 2024

Shaw has been one of the best young batters in the Indian domestic circuit. But since the last few years, his off-the-field antics have affected his game and not many have backed him either. But he recently changed his state team to Maharashtra from Mumbai and has been performing.
Shaw made his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals in 2018. He was part of the franchise till 2024 before getting released ahead of the 2025 season. Since then, he hasn’t been able to find the bidders.
Shaw has played 79 games in the IPL 2025 and has mustered 1892 runs at a strike rate of over 147. He has also slammed 14 half-centuries with the best of 99.
