The schedule for the first 20 days of the IPL 2026 season will be announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on March 12, as confirmed by the BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia on Tuesday.

According to reports, the BCCI planned to announce the schedule in two phases as assembly elections are set to take place in many states during this period.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Saikia said, “Keeping in mind the election dates in some states, we will announce the schedule for the first 20 days of IPL in two to three days, and the schedule for the rest of the tournament will be announced later.”

Elections in Assam, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala are expected to be held during this window. Hence, the board will have to adopt a flexible approach in finalizing venues and dates for matches. The Election Commission has not announced the election dates yet.

The teams have already undertaken preparations for the upcoming season. Chennai Super Kings commenced their training on March 1 at their High-Performance Centre in Navalur.

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru had organized a short training camp at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on February 10. Meanwhile, the 2022 tournament champions, the Gujarat Titans, held their training sessions twice at Miraj International Cricket Stadium in Nathdwara.

Punjab Kings had commenced their training in Abu Dhabi in early February, after which their training camp was moved to Dharamshala. Sunrisers Hyderabad commenced their pre-season training on March 1 with their domestic players, and the Mumbai Indians have also commenced their preparations for the tournament.

The Rajasthan Royals are likely to start their training camp in Jaipur from March 15th, while the Kolkata Knight Riders are set to start their pre-season camp from March 18th.

The Delhi Capitals recently concluded a training camp in Hyderabad and are likely to conduct another camp in New Delhi, while the Lucknow Super Giants recently conducted a practice session in Lucknow.
