IPL 2026: KKR rope in ex-RR coach as their new fielding coach

KKR had a dismal outing in the IPL 2025, and would be eyeing to make a comeback in the IPL 2026.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will aim for a big comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, which will commence about two months from now. The three-time champions failed to qualify for the playoffs last season under Ajinkya Rahane’s leadership.
KKR finished at eighth spot in the points table of IPL 2025. Out of 14 games, they won five matches and lost seven encounters (two no results). This came as a huge blow for the side as they were the winners of the prior edition in 2024.
The preparations for IPL 2026 have already begun, with the tournament expected to start in the last week of March. The IPL 2026 auction took place last month, where all 10 franchises captured their favourite players.
KKR have also made many changes in their support staff with the intention of a better show in IPL 2026. Last year, the franchise roped in Abhishek Nayar as the new head coach after parting ways with Chandrakant Pandit. Now, they have also named a new fielding coach for the next season.
Dishant Yagnik named as new fielding coach of KKR for IPL 2026
Dishant Yagnik has been appointed as the new fielding coach by the KKR for IPL 2026. The 42-year-old has executed multiple coaching stints in domestic cricket and the IPL. Until last season, he was the fielding coach of Rajasthan Royals (RR) and had a long association with the side.
However, as RR parted ways with head coach Rahul Dravid ahead of the next season, Yagnik was also let go from his post. Yagnik has also played for RR in the IPL during his active years. He also featured in 50 first-class games for Rajasthan.
In IPL 2026, he will work under head coach Nayar and join the powerful support staff that includes assistant coach Shane Watson, new power coach Andre Russell, mentor Dwayne Bravo and bowling coach Tim Southee.
