IPL 2026: 3 players DC should target in auction

DC still have 8 slots available for IPL 2026 mini-auction.

The Delhi Capitals are one of the two teams from the original set in the Indian Premier League (IPL) yet to win the league.

DC came closest to winning the title in 2020, when the event was hosted in the UAE during the COVID-19 pandemic. After a great start to the season last year, Delhi lost their way and eventually missed out on a playoff spot.

Capitals enter the IPL 2026 auction with INR 21.8 crores remaining in their bank account. Skipper Axar Patel has been retained along with veteran batters like KL Rahul and Karun Nair. International players like Mitchell Starc and Tristan Stubbs, too, will be part of the Capitals’ squad for the coming season.

Faf du Plessis’ exit means that the Capitals will look for an opening batter ahead of the new season. Axar and his side will also look to shore up their middle-order, which was unstable last season. On that note, let’s take a look at three players DC should consider targeting in the IPL 2026 mini-auction.

3- Mustafizur Rahman

DC drafted in Bangladesh seamer Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement player towards the end of the season. The 30-year-old is regarded as one of the best death-overs bowlers in the T20 format.

Mustafizur has priced himself at INR 2 Crores, and Delhi will be keen to shell out huge money to bring the pacer back to their dugout.

So far, Rahman has played 60 matches in the league and claimed 65 wickets. The 30-year-old has bowled with an economy rate of 8.1 runs per over. It will be a huge dream for DC fans to watch Starc and Rahman bowl together in the death overs.

2- Sarfaraz Khan

India’s young batting sensation, Sarfaraz Khan, could be the answer to the middle-order woes DC suffered last season. The 28-year-old has been typecast as a red-ball specialist in recent times. Sarfaraz can play unorthodox cricket and score runs all over the park.

The 28-year-old has played 50 IPL matches and scored 585 runs with a strike-rate of 130 with one half-century. Sarfaraz has already played for Delhi Capitals before, scoring 144 runs from 10 games with a best of 36 not out.

1- Quinton de Kock

Veteran South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock will be one of the players to watch out for in the IPL 2026 auction. The 33-year-old has been in a terrific run with the bat in recent matches against India in the white-ball format. Quinton de Kock has played 115 IPL matches, scoring 3309 runs with two centuries and 24 fifties.

Buying de Kock will also reunite the veteran South African star with KL Rahul to solve the opening batter crisis. Both Rahul and de Kock were a force at the top of the order during their time together at Lucknow Super Giants.

The 33-year-old player has previously played for DC and scored 720 runs in 23 matches, including one century and five half-centuries.

When will the IPL 2026 auction take place?

The IPL 2026 auction is scheduled to take place on December 16.

Where will the IPL 2026 auction be held?

The auction will be held in Abu Dhabi.
