IPL 2027 auction to take place in Goa on December 16
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended the IPL 2027 player retention deadline by two days, giving all ten franchises more time to finalise their squads. Teams will now have until November 17 to submit their lists of retained and released players. The original deadline was November 15.
The decision was shared with all ten franchises on Monday, November 2. The extension comes as the original deadline clashes with the fifth and final ODI between India and New Zealand at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, the BCCI informed all ten franchises about the revised deadline through an official communication. However, there is no change in the date or venue of the IPL mini-auction, which will take place in Goa on December 16.
The upcoming auction will be the final mini-auction before the next mega-auction, which is scheduled to take place ahead of the 2028 IPL season.

The two-day extension will give franchises more time to decide which players they want to keep and which ones they want to release ahead of the mini-auction.
Interestingly, the IPL 2027 auction date also clashes with India’s international schedule, as the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled for December 16. However, the BCCI has not announced any change to the auction date.
