Goa to host IPL 2027 mini-auction in December.
The IPL 2027 mini-auction will be held in Goa on December 16. The one-day event will take place nearly a month after the deadline for teams to submit their player retention lists. The auction date also clashes with the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka in Bengaluru.
According to an ESPNcricinfo report on October 26, the IPL has set November 15 as the deadline for teams to submit their retention lists. After this, teams will get the list of registered players and select the names they want to consider for the auction.
All 10 IPL teams have started planning for the next season. They have to decide which players they want to retain and which ones to release before the auction. These decisions will help them plan their budget and address their team’s shortcomings during the auction.
The trade window has also seen two deals since the end of IPL 2026. Rishabh Pant has returned to Delhi Capitals (DC) from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), while Kuldeep Yadav has moved to LSG.
In another deal, fast bowler T Natarajan has returned to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), with leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari joining DC.

The IPL auction will return to India for the first time since 2022. The last three auctions were held overseas. Dubai hosted the auction ahead of the 2024 season, Jeddah hosted the 2025 mega-auction, and Abu Dhabi hosted the 2026 mini-auction.
The December 16 date will clash with the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The two teams will also play a three-match T20I series from December 22 to December 27.
Teams must submit their retention lists by November 15. After that, they will shortlist players from the registered pool before the final auction list is prepared.
The December auction will be the last mini-auction before the IPL moves to a mega-auction ahead of the 2028 season.
The trade window will remain open until one week before the auction. Teams can make more player changes during this period. Moreover, the IPL 2027 start date has not yet been announced.
