IPL 2027: CSK & SRH make four-player trade deal; swap Liam Livingstone and Khaleel Ahmed

With this trade, both teams addressed some shortcomings in their squads.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have completed a four-player trade deal ahead of IPL 2027.

Star England all-rounder Liam Livingstone and Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards move to Chennai, while Indian pacer Khaleel Ahmed and Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis join Hyderabad in a major swap deal.

With the IPL 2027 retention deadline approaching on November 17, franchises have started building their squads. Teams are looking to strengthen their combinations before the mini-auction, scheduled for December 16.

Liam Livingstone joins CSK at a reduced price of INR 6 crore

Livingstone will join Chennai Super Kings for INR 6 crore, less than half the INR 13 crore that SRH paid for him at the IPL 2026 auction. The England all-rounder had an underwhelming campaign last season and will now get an opportunity to play for a new franchise.

His addition could give CSK more middle-order options. Livingstone is known for his power-hitting and can also bowl both leg-spin and off-spin, making him a useful option.

Edwards will also join Chennai at his existing price of INR 3 crore. SRH signed him ahead of IPL 2026, but a leg injury ruled him out for the entire season, preventing him from making his debut.

Meanwhile, Ahmed moved to SRH for INR 4.8 crore. The left-arm pacer previously represented Hyderabad between 2018 and 2021 before joining CSK.

Khaleel had a good IPL 2025 season, taking 15 wickets in 14 matches for Chennai. However, he played only five matches in IPL 2026 before a right quadriceps injury ended his campaign.

Ellis will complete the move to Hyderabad at his existing price of INR 2 crore. He brings experience and is known for his variations and ability to bowl in the death overs.

The trade gives CSK an additional all-rounder option, while SRH add two experienced pace bowlers ahead of IPL 2027.

Which four players are involved in the CSK-SRH trade deal ahead of IPL 2027?

Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards have joined CSK, while Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis have moved to SRH.

How much will CSK pay for Liam Livingstone?

CSK acquired Livingstone for INR 6 crore, compared to his previous price of INR 13 crore.
