LSG bought Avesh Khan at the IPL 2025 auction for INR 9.75 crores.
The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have received a positive update, after their heart-breaking 1-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals (DC) in their first match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Their injured pacer Avesh Khan has been granted fitness clearance by the Center of Excellence (previously the National Cricket Academy) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Avesh hasn’t played since late January; he last played for India in a T20I in South Africa in November of last year. He also skipped Madhya Pradesh’s final league game of Ranji Trophy 2024-25.
It is known that his right knee was giving him trouble and that this was caused by the amount of labor he had to do throughout the domestic season.
LSG planning derailed by injury woes to Indian pacers
Avesh was one of LSG’s four injured pacers. Alongside Avesh at the BCCI CoE were Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Akash Deep. Shardul Thakur has been selected to replace Mohsin, who has already been ruled out of the IPL 2025. LSG head Justin Langer says Akash Deep is around 90% fit.
Mayank’s recuperation has been prolonged due to an injury to his toe. The quick pacer was anticipated to be healthy for IPL 2025 after suffering a back ailment in October of the previous year.
However, he has been sidelined due to an unforeseen injury. It is anticipated that Mayank will miss the first seven games in the group stage.
Avesh Khan boost to LSG before next match against SRH
According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the BCCI medical staff has given Avesh Khan the all-clear to join the LSG camp. According to the same reports, Avesh had his last fitness test on Monday before being cleared to resume his duties.
“ESPNcricinfo has learned that Avesh, who had been dealing with a problem in his right knee, got the go-ahead from the BCCI medical staff this week and will soon join the LSG squad, It is understood that he was experiencing discomfort in his right knee, which was related to his workload during the domestic season. It is understood he went through one of his final fitness tests on Monday,” the report read.
When Avesh will join the LSG team was not announced, but it is anticipated that he will be eligible for selection for their upcoming game, their second away game, against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Hyderabad on March 27.
LSG, who are currently in Vishakhapatnam, will travel to Hyderabad to play the SRH in their second IPL 2025 encounter. Avesh may miss three games, according to early reports, but that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore.
