IPL 2025: Axar Patel provides update on Faf du Plessis' injury ahead of DC's next match

Faf du Plessis suffered an injury during DC’s away game against RCB in IPL 2025.
Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Axar Patel has provided an update on batsman Faf du Plessis’ injury and his return to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The latter sustained an injury while fielding during DC’s away game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
The South Africa stalwart got out for two runs in the match against RCB. Earlier, he slammed a half-century and 29 runs against SRH and LSG respectively in the first two games.
Faf du Plessis might be back in the next game against Gujarat Titans: Axar Patel
Patel has informed that Plessis might be back in the next game against Gujarat Titans (GT). The GT vs DC encounter will be played on Saturday, April 19, at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
“I had been told that he wouldn’t be able to play three matches – that’s the time he needs to recover – and two matches are done. Maybe he will play the Gujarat game. But the physio has to confirm how his rehab has been going,” Patel said.
The Indian all-rounder also informed that Kuldeep Yadav’s condition is not serious. Yadav got injured while attempting a catch at the boundary during DC’s most-recent match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday, April 16.
“I have no update on Kuldeep yet. If something serious had happened, then we would have known by now,” he further added.
The left-arm spinner is the leading wicket-taker for DC in IPL 2025. He has captured 11 wickets in six matches at an average of 13.18 and an economy of 6.04. Meanwhile, the Capitals are the most successful team in IPL 2025 so far. With five victories and one defeat across six games, they have 10 points. They steal the top spot in IPL 2025 points table.
