The Eliminator 1 of IPL 2025, GT vs MI, will take place on May 30 in Chandigarh.

Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) will wrestle in the Eliminator match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Friday, May 30. The encounter will take place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh.

Shubman Gill leads GT in IPL 2025, while Hardik Pandya is the skipper of MI. Both teams have already arrived in Chandigarh for the crucial Eliminator clash. Notably, some games in IPL 2025 were washed out due to rain.

For instance, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 17 at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru was completely washed out due to rain. It also ended KKR’s hopes of reaching the playoffs as it was a must-win clash for Ajinkya Rahane & Co.

What will happen if GT vs MI Eliminator match gets washed out due to rain?

The winner of the GT vs MI clash will move ahead to Qualifier 2, while the loser will be eliminated. Also, there is no reserve day for the Eliminator match in case the match gets washed out due to rain.

Hence, if the GT vs MI clash is washed out due to rain and witnesses no result, the Shubman Gill-led side will qualify for Qualifier 2 due to their higher rank in the points table at the end of the league stage. The franchise finished in the third spot in the points table with 18 points, while the Hardik Pandya-led side ended in the fourth spot with 16 points.

Hence, the five-time champions will face a big blow if the Eliminator clash is washed out due to rain. There is an extra time of two hours for the playoff games to battle the issue of rain. Hence, a match will witness the full quota of 20 overs per innings even if it starts at 9:30 PM. Although the chances of rain are less likely, the weather report suggests cloudy weather in Chandigarh on Friday night.

Meanwhile, the winner of the Eliminator clash will move one step closer to the IPL 2025 final. The winner of GT vs MI clash will face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 2. The winner of Qualifier 2 will be the second finalist of IPL 2025. RCB became first finalists after their victory over PBKS in Qualifier 1 by eight wickets.
