Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Jasprit Bumrah has achieved a big milestone in the ongoing match No. 45 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. MI are hosting Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the clash clash on Sunday, April 27. The right-arm pacer became the highest ever wicket-taker for his team. Notably, he overtook former pacer Lasith Malinga for the record.

Bumrah achieved the feat after taking LSG’s first wicket in the game. He dismissed Aiden Markram to provide the first breakthrough to MI in the second innings. Now, he has a total of 171 wickets for MI in the IPL. He bagged this achievement in his 139th game of the IPL.

Top five highest wicket-takers for MI in IPL

Interestingly, Bumrah is the only active player in the IPL among the top five highest-wicket takers for MI. Other than Bumrah and Malinga, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell McCleanaghan, and Kieron Pollard are among the top five highest wicket-takers for the five-time champions.

Bumrah missed the first few games of IPL 2025 due to injury. However, he has delivered a fabulous performance after his return. The right-arm pacer has captured six wickets across six games at an impressive economy of 7.61. His best bowling show was two wickets for 25 runs in the clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at home.

Meanwhile, the hosts showed a wonderful batting performance at the Wankhede Stadium in the first innings of MI vs LSG clash. They piled up a massive total of 215/7. Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav hammered half-centuries for the side. Will Jacks (29) and Naman Dhir (25*) also made crucial contributions with the bat. LSG pacers Mayank Yadav and Avesh Khan stole two wickets each.
