IPL 2025: Will Jasprit Bumrah play in MI's next match against RCB? Head coach Mahela Jayawardene reveals

Jasprit Bumrah has been out of the field for almost three months due to a back injury.
Mumbai Indians (MI), on Sunday, April 6, received a massive boost when their ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah joined their camp for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The franchise missed the services of their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the first four games. He was out of action for three months due to a back injury.
Notably, the Indian pacer suffered an injury during Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 in the final test in Sydney. Later, he also missed ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where Rohit Sharma-led India crushed New Zealand in the final to win the title.
MI have shown a poor show in IPL 2025 so far in the absence of Bumrah, winning just one game out of four. They are currently played eighth in the points table with just two points. They lost their previous match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 12 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah should be available against RCB: Coach Mahela Jayawardene
However, now they’ve received a massive boost ahead of their forthcoming clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Monday, April 7. MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene provided an update on Bumrah’s availability for MI’s home game on Monday and confirmed that the pacer is available for the contest.
“He is available. He is training today, so he should be available,” the MI head coach told reporters.
Jayawardene also gave an update on Rohit Sharma’s availability for the next game. Sharma was not part of the last match as he got hit on the knee during training sessions. Will Jacks replaced him as opener in the clash.
“Rohit looks good. He is going to bat today as well. We were travelling yesterday. He will have a hit today, so we will do an assessment on that,” added Jayawardene.
Notably, MI have fielded newcomers like Satyanarayana Raju, Vignesh Puthur, and Ashwani Kumar as bowlers in IPL 2025 in the absence of Bumrah. Hardik Pandya & Co. will clash with RCB on Monday, April 7, at their home ground, Wankhede Stadium.
