KKR have 11 points from 11 games in IPL 2025.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showed magnificent effort to snatch a victory against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match No. 53 in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. KKR crushed RR by just one run in the match in the final over. The encounter took place on Sunday, May 4, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Opting to bat first, KKR piled up a decent total of 206/4 with an unbeaten half-century by Andre Russell. Angkrish Raghuvanshi (44) and Ajinkya Rahane (30) added crucial runs on the board. However, RR skipper Riyan Parag slammed a marvellous knock to give a big blow to the home side in the match.
Riyan slammed 95 runs off just 45 balls with eight sixes in the match. As a result, the match went closer to the final over, where the hosts had to defend 22 runs. Pacer Vaibhav Arora did a commendable job to grab a victory by just one run in the end.
How can KKR qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2025?
After the victory against RR, the Knight Riders have 11 points in their kitty and take sixth spot in the points table with 11 points. They have won five games and lost five matches. One of their games against Punjab Kings (PBKS) ended with no result. The defending champions still are in the race to qualify for the playoffs from hereon.
The Ajinkya Rahane & Co. have three more games left to play in the tournament. If they win all of their next three matches, they will end with 17 points and qualify for the playoffs. Hence, they will confirm their playoffs’ berth if they win all the next three encounters. However, if they win only two out of three games, they will reach 15 points.
In such a scenario, their qualification for the playoffs will depend upon other teams’ results. Also, if KKR win only one game out of the forthcoming three clashes, they will end with 13 points in the points table and will be eliminated from the playoffs race.
The defending champions will play three more games against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2025. They will play their last league match against RCB on Saturday, May 17.
