IPL 2025: [Watch] MS Dhoni's lightning-quick stumping to dismiss Phil Salt

Phil Salt scored 32 before getting stumped by MS Dhoni.

The Southern Derby of the Indian Premier League (IPL) – the clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is currently underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and elected to bowl first, stating that the team would like to assess the pitch before batting in the second innings.

Batting first, RCB got off to a strong start with Phil Salt leading the charge, scoring 32 off 16 balls in the powerplay. His blistering knock helped the visitors cross the 40-run mark in the fifth over and set the foundation for a big total.

CSK found relief in the fifth over when mystery spinner Noor Ahmad deceived Salt with a googly as he attempted a lofted drive over the covers. The ball beat his outside edge and landed in Dhoni’s gloves, who whipped off the bails in a flash to send the English opener back to the pavilion.

Notably, Dhoni stumped Suryakumar Yadav in just 0.12 seconds during CSK’s IPL 2025 season opener against Mumbai Indians.

At the time of writing, RCB are cruising towards a big total at 118/3 after 12.4 overs. Liam Livingstone has joined Rajat Patidar (20) following Virat Kohli’s dismissal and will look to power his team past 190.

RCB still have Jitesh Sharma and Tim David to come and will hope Krunal Pandya can replicate his heroics with the ball on the helpful Chennai pitch.

CSK vs RCB: Playing XI of both teams

CSK: Rachin Ravindra, Rahul Tripathi, Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), Deepak Hooda, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Noor Ahmad, Matheesha Pathirana and Khaleel Ahmed.

RCB: Virat Kohli, Philip Salt, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (c), Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Tim David, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal.
