IPL 2025: Match No. 61, PBKS vs MI, rescheduled; BCCI announces new venue

PBKS vs MI match was originally scheduled to take place in Dharamsala.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) were originally scheduled to host Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium in Dharamsala in the 61st match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The encounter is now moved out of Dharamsala due to logistical reasons.

The PBKS vs MI encounter will now be played at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium, as announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This news comes in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor by Indian Armed Forces.

The Indian forces attacked nine terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor in the wee hours of Wednesday, May 7. Following the Operation, the Government of India has halted operations at many airports in the northern part of India, which includes Dharamsala and Chandigarh.

PBKS vs MI match relocated to Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad

As a result, the forthcoming clash between PBKS and MI will not take place in Dharamsala and has been shifted to Ahmedabad. BCCI informed about the development in an official statement.

“TATA IPL Match No. 61 between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, originally scheduled to be played in Dharamshala on Sunday, May 11, has been relocated to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The venue change has been necessitated due to logistical challenges. The match will begin at 3:30 PM IST as per the original schedule,” BCCI said in an official statement.

Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is the home ground of Gujarat Titans (GT). Hence, PBKS will be short of the home advantage in the clash, which will now be played at a neutral venue. Shreyas Iyer is the skipper of PBKS, while Hardik Pandya leads MI.

Both teams have delivered a dominant performance in the ongoing IPL 2025. PBKS take the third spot in the points table with 15 points. They have won seven games and lost three out of 11. One of their match ended with no result. On the other hand, MI follow them in the fourth spot in the points table. They have 14 points after winning seven games and losing five encounters.
