Punjab Kings (PBKS) are locking horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 66th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Saturday, May 24. The PBKS vs DC clash is currently underway at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. During the match, PBKS equalled the record for most 200+ totals in a single edition of the IPL.
DC stand-in skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. PBKS lost opener Priyansh Arya (6) cheaply. His opening partner Prabhsimran Singh also failed to go big, losing his wicket for 28 runs.
However, skipper Shreyas Iyer slammed a stunning half-century (53) to power the scoreboard to 206/8. Marcus Stoinis also scored a quickfire unbeaten 44 off 16 runs in the death overs. Mustafizur Rahmad picked a three-wicket haul for DC.
Punjab Kings register 200+ total in IPL 2025 for the seventh time
The Shreyas Iyer & Co. crossed the 200+ total for the seventh time in the ongoing IPL 2025. Hence, they have equalled the record for most 200+ totals in a single edition of the IPL. PBKS share the record with Gujarat Titans (GT), who have also registered 200+ totals in the ongoing tournament.
Interestingly, IPL 2025 is the first season in which any team has registered seven totals of 200 and above. Previously, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad held the record with six scores of 200 or above in an edition of the IPL. MI achieved it in 2023, while other three teams achieved the feat last year.
Teams with most 200+ totals in an IPL edition:
- Punjab Kings – 7 (IPL 2025)
- Gujarat Titans – 7 (IPL 2025)
- Mumbai Indians – 6 (IPL 2023)
- Kolkata Knight Riders – 6 (IPL 2024)
- Sunrisers Hyderabad – 6 (IPL 2024)
- Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 6 (IPL 2024)
