IPL 2025: Why are Rajasthan Royals wearing Pink jersey in RR vs MI clash? Explained

Rajasthan Royals are taking on MI in match No. 50 of IPL 2025 in Jaipur.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) are currently hosting Mumbai Indians (MI) in 50th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The RR vs MI game is taking place at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. RR players have adopted a different jersey in the clash unlike their regular one.

Hardik Pandya is the skipper of MI in the encounter while Riyan Parag is the captain of RR. RR’s regular captain Sanju Samson misses another game due to his abdominal injury. Parag won the toss and opted to field first in the match. Both teams are coming to this game on the back of a victory in their respective last matches of the tournament.

Notably, RR players are not wearing their regular pink and blue coloured jerseys in the encounter. They have adopted a completely pink coloured jersey as a part of their ‘Pink Promise’ campaign.

What exactly is the Rajasthan Royals’ ‘Pink Promise’ campaign?

Since the last few editions of the IPL, RR have adapted to wear a pink jersey in one of their games to support their ‘Pink Promise’ campaign. It aims towards the betterment of rural women in Rajasthan. It is an initiative to support women-led rural development in the state. The campaign also focuses on women’s empowerment and highlights their achievements in sectors like energy and water conservation.

The jerseys are a visual representation of the campaign. Pink colour is a special colour in Rajasthan, which depicts their history and culture. The pink colour is a symbol of strength and resilience as well as the power of women.

As a part of the initiative, the franchise has pledged to provide solar power to six households for every six hit during the match. Also, the profits from the sale of pink jerseys are utilized in Rajasthan Royals Foundation’s social initiatives.

Meanwhile, RR have witnessed a dismal form in IPL 2025. They have won just three games out of 10 so far and lost seven. They have six points and take the eighth spot in the points table. On the other hand, MI have won six games out of ten and lost four. They steal the third spot in the points table with 12 points.
