IPL 2025: Rohit Sharma becomes oldest batter to score 80+ in IPL Playoffs! Check full list

Rohit Sharma scored 81 runs against GT in the Eliminator of IPL 2025.
Mumbai Indians (MI) are wrestling with Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Eliminator match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Friday, May 30. The venue of the GT vs MI encounter is the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.
MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. Openers Jonny Bairstow and Rohit Sharma gave a wonderful start to the batting. They made a partnership of 84 runs for the first wicket. Sharma slammed a half-century for the team, hitting 81 runs off 50 balls.
Notably, Sharma reached the mark of 7000 runs in the IPL after his wonderful batting show in the match. He is the second batter after Virat Kohli to reach the milestone in the tournament’s history. Sharma also became the second batter after Chris Gayle to slam 300 sixes in the league’s history.

Moreover, Sharma has also earned a unique record among veteran players in the IPL. He has become the oldest batsman to score an 80-plus knock in IPL playoffs. Sharma is 38 years old at the moment. The record was earlier held by Michael Hussey, who scored an unbeaten 86 runs at the age of 37 years and 359 days.
Shane Watson, Adam Gilchrist, and Faf du Plessis are the other veteran players in the list. Below are the top five oldest batters to score 80-plus knocks in IPL playoffs.

Meanwhile, Sharma scored his third half-century in IPL 2025. With the help of Sharma’s half-century, MI reached a mammoth total of 228/5 in the Eliminator. Bairstow (47), Suryakumar Yadav (33), and Tilak Varma (25) also added crucial runs to the scoreboard while batting.
GT bowlers completely failed to attack the men in blue. Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore hunted two wickets each. Mohammed Siraj picked up one wicket. However, they could not get wickets at the start.
