IPL 2025: Ruturaj Gaikwad continues CSK duties amid elbow injury; inaugurates new Super Kings Academy

Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of IPL 2025 due to an elbow injury.
Although Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, he is continuing his duties for his franchise, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The CSK skipper has launched a new Super Kings Cricket Academy in Indian Union Territory Puducherry. Notably, the right-handed batsman was ruled out of IPL 2025 due to an elbow injury after the first few games.
He was hit on the elbow by Tushar Deshpande‘s delivery during a clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR). He played few more games after suffering that injury. However, later he was ruled out remainder of the tournament. Former CSK skipper MS Dhoni took the reins of the side after Gaikwad’s ouster. The wicket-keeper batter left the captaincy after the 2023 season and handed it to Gaikwad ahead of last season.

On Wednesday, April 23, the 28-year-old batsman launched a new Super Kings Academy in Puducherry. Wearing a light grey shirt, he cut the ribbons to inaugurate the new cricket academy as his fans welcomed him during the event. The photos of the event were shared by CSK on their official X (formerly Twitter) account. Have a look at the X post below.
Notably, Super Kings Academy is an initiative by CSK franchise to provide cricket coaching to aspiring young students in India. They have over 22 academies across four countries – India, United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA), and Australia.
Meanwhile, Gaikwad showed a good form before getting ruled out of IPL 2025. The right-handed batsman slammed two half-centuries across five matches. He held a high strike rate of 150.61. The Men in Yellow won the opening game against Mumbai Indians, but then lost four back-to-back games under Gaikwad’s captaincy earlier this season.
CSK are also the worst performers this season so far. They have won just two games out of eight matches. With four points, they are positioned at bottom of the points table.
