IPL team-wise representation in India's squad for AFG vs IND T20Is
3 Sunrisers Hyderabad players have been included in the Indian T20I team.
The Indian Premier League continues to play an important role in shaping India‘s T20I setup. Players who perform exceptionally well in the IPL often secure a spot in the national team.
The latest India squad for the upcoming series against Afghanistan will also demonstrate how players from different IPL franchises are contributing to the World Champions’ T20I plans. With Shreyas Iyer becoming the new captain of the Indian T20I team, the team is undergoing a phase of transition.
They made a poor start to the new era, suffering two defeats against Ireland, followed by four losses against England. However, the Indian management is eyeing a comeback in the upcoming series against Afghanistan.
The squad is a fine blend of experience and youth, and several key players who had been out of the Indian team for a long time are making a comeback in this series.

The BCCI announced a 15-member squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Jasprit Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana have been included despite the dagger of fitness concerns looming over their heads.
The matches will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 13, 15 and 17. Based on the IPL 2026 squads, representation is spread between 8 of the 10 IPL franchises. Sunrisers Hyderabad have the most representatives in the Indian T20I team.
Shockingly, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, despite having won the IPL title in the past two seasons, do not have a single player selected in the Indian squad. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants are the second team without any of their players picked for the Afghanistan series.
