Jason Behrendorff sent Deepak Hooda and Prerak Mankad back into the dugout in two consecutive balls.

Mumbai Indians are taking on Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. This game has the importance of a knockout round. Pace bowler Jason Behrendorff made a great start with Mumbai in this encounter. Behrendorff in his second over picked up two back-to-back wickets to give Lucknow Super Giants early setbacks in the game.

Mumbai Indians have made a great comeback after a few losses in the initial league games. They have won 4 out of their last 5 games and have put their names among the top 3 in the IPL 2023 points table. Lucknow are 4th and both of them need a win in this game to secure their place in the playoffs, where the race is getting tougher as the season approaches business end.

Jason Behrendorff picks two-in-two vs Lucknow

Australian pace bowler Jason Behrendorff in his second over gave Lucknow a shock with two back-to-back wickets. Lucknow tried a new opening combination and gave Deepak Hooda a chance to open along with Quinton De Kock. Struggling Hooda tried to go over the top against Behrendorff in the first ball of his second over but he skied one toward mid-on Tim David. In the next ball, Lucknow’s hero against Hyderabad edged one behind Ishan Kishan. Prerak Mankad tried to cut one outside off stump but he was completely beaten by Behrendorff’s pace. He has picked 14 wickets (including Lucknow) this season in 9 games.

After a few early wickets, Marcus Stoinis and Captain Krunal Pandya have steered Lucknow towards a decent total. Piyush Chawla got the big man Quinton De Kock out on right after the powerplay. Chawla sent back QDK on 16 runs, it was a crucial wicket as he was settling in and had smashed 2 sixes inside Powerplay. Lucknow will look to go past 150 as Ekana doesn’t allow batters to score freely in the second inning. Mumbai and Lucknow both require a win to make themselves safe in the playoff race.
