IPL 2025: Who has replaced Glenn Phillips in the Gujarat Titans squad?

Glenn Phillips flew back to New Zealand after suffering groin injury in IPL 2025.
Glenn Phillips, the New Zealand all-rounder’s run in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 ended early. This was because he suffered an injury during a match and then flew back to his home in New Zealand.
Phillips was bought by Gujarat Titans (GT) at the IPL 2025 auction but was warming the bench as GT preferred to play with three foreigners. During GT’s IPL 2025 match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Phillips came on the field as a substitute fielder.
While trying to field the ball at backward point, Phillips suffered a groin injury and had to leave the field. He went to the hospital for scans and then returned to the dugout. However, it was later confirmed that the all-rounder was then ruled out of the tournament. The New Zealand all-rounder has already left India to go back home.
“Gujarat Titans all-rounder Glenn Phillips has returned to New Zealand following a groin injury he sustained during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6. “Gujarat Titans wish Glenn a speedy recovery,” the Gujarat Titans’ statement read.
Kagiso Rabada, a South African speedster, had already left for home due to “an important personal matter” and was lost by GT. It’s unclear if Rabada will stay in India for the rest of the IPL 2025.
Dasun Shanaka replaces Glenn Phillips in Gujarat Titans for IPL 2025.
GT, led by Shubman Gill, have signed all-rounder Dasun Shanaka of Sri Lanka to play the rest of IPL 2025 in place of Glenn Phillips, who is injured.
Shanaka was roped in by GT for a price of INR 75 lakh. Shanaka previously played three games with GT in 2023. In the three matches he played in IPL 2023, Shanaka scored 26 runs. He did not get a chance to show his prowess with the ball in hand.
One of Shanaka’s most recent cricketing activities was playing for the Dubai Capitals in the International League T20, where they won. The all-rounder returned to Sri Lanka after playing in the ILT20 and played for Dambulla in a National Super League four-day tournament match.
He demonstrated his ongoing participation in domestic cricket by playing for the Sinhalese Sports Club in another Major League Tournament encounter.
Dasun Shanaka has taken 33 wickets in international T20 cricket and amassed 1456 runs in 102 T20Is for Sri Lanka. He has also represented Sri Lanka in 6 Test matches and 71 ODIs.
