Ireland Schedule for ICC T20 World Cup 2026, Fixtures, Dates, Venues

Ireland will face Sri Lanka in their first game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

On Tuesday, 25th November, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule of ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The upcoming edition will be featuring 20 teams, which will be played between 7 February and 8 March 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. There will be 55 games to be played in the tournament, across eight venues.

In India, these matches will be played in Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai, while three venues in Sri Lanka are shortlisted to host these games. Team India won the last edition and will be defending their title in this 20-team tournament. It will be played in the same format as the 2024 edition.

20 teams will compete in the group stage, where five teams each are divided into four groups. The teams who finish in the top two will advance to Super Eight. Two groups will have four teams each, where every team will play one game. The top two sides from two groups will make it to the semi-finals, followed by the final.

Ireland will be making their ninth appearance and will hope for a better show this time around. Their best season was in 2022 in Australia, when they made it into the second round. But they have been preparing well for this tournament and can surprise a few teams.

Ireland are placed in Group B of ICC T20 World Cup 2026

Ireland are part of Group A along with the 2021 winners, Australia, the 2014 winners, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Oman. This is a tough group, as they will face three full-member nations in their group. Ireland have not beaten Sri Lanka and Australia in T20Is, and to advance to Super Eight, they will have to do show their best performance.

Ireland will play their first two games at the R. Premadasa Stadium on February 8 and 11 against Sri Lanka and Australia respectively. They will face Oman in their next game at Sinhalese Sports Club on February 14, while their last game is against Zimbabwe on February 17 in Pallakele.
