Ireland and South Africa are set to play three ODIs and two T20Is in the months of September and October 2024 in the United Arab Emirates. South Africa, who lost the ODI series against Afghanistan in the UAE, will be looking to finish their UAE tour by defeating Ireland in the upcoming white-ball matches.

Previously, Ireland and South Africa have played three bilateral ODI series. The first ever ODI series was played in 2007, then in 2016/17, and the last ODI series between the two nations was played in 2021.

Notably, Proteas won the one-off ODIs in 2007 and 2016/17 against Ireland. However, the three-match ODI series in 2021 was tied 1-1.

Overall, both nations have played eight one-day internationals. Proteas have won six, whereas Ireland have just one victory to their name. One match between the two sides ended without a result. In T20Is, South Africa have faced Ireland six times till now. The Proteas have won all six matches against the Irish side.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) have named two different captains for the white-ball series against Ireland. Aiden Markram will lead the T20I side, whereas Temba Bavuma will captain the ODI team. For Ireland, veteran cricketer Paul Stirling will lead the side in the white-ball series against South Africa.
