Irfan Pathan suggests Delhi Capitals to appoint Sourav Ganguly as head coach from next season

Delhi Capitals might sack their head coach Ricky Ponting after the IPL 2023.

Delhi Capitals had a forgettable IPL 2023. Delhi are currently languishing at the bottom of the table with only 4 wins in their 12 games. Delhi Capitals have only 8 points. Delhi’s full-time captain Rishabh Pant was ruled out from the entire season, in his absence David Warner took the responsibility of leadership. Delhi Capitals might make a few changes in their support staff after the IPL 2023. Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has suggested Delhi Capitals, amid the speculation that Ricky Ponting might be sacked from his post after the IPL 2023. He has suggested a name to replace Ponting as well. 

Irfan suggests Sourav Ganguly should become head coach

Former Indian all-rounder and Delhi Daredevils' member, Irfan Pathan suggested Delhi Capitals replace Ricky Ponting with former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly as head coach. Sourav Ganguly is currently associated with Delhi Capitals as Director of Cricket Operations. Pathan said, “Sourav Ganguly’s presence in the dugout is a big deal. I think if Dada is given the responsibility of coach as well, he can make a big difference in this team. Dada has the knowledge of the psychology of Indian players”. Delhi’s batting has been a complete failure in IPL 2023. 

Irfan Pathan also feels that Sourav Ganguly’s experience of handling a dressing room will also help him as a coach. Pathan further added, “He knows how to run the dressing room and Delhi should definitely take advantage of that. At the time of the toss, Warner has said that his team has now started preparing for the next season, and in this context, it would not be wrong to see Ganguly in a changed role”. Irfan Pathan made his international debut under Sourav Ganguly’s leadership. The Australian combination of Warner and Ponting has not worked for Delhi Capitals.
