Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are locking horns in 20th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 12. MI won the toss and opted to field first in the clash.

RCB have set a gigantic target of 241 runs for MI. The hosts got a brilliant start by openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma. The duo helped the scoreboard reach 62 runs in the powerplay.

However, MI suffered a big blow as Rohit had to retire hurt in the sixth over. The right-handed batsman suffered a hamstring injury while batting and had to leave the field after scoring 19 runs off 13 deliveries.

Since Rohit has been retired hurt, he can arrive at the field later to resume his batting. When batsmen are retired hurt, they are allowed to bat later in the innings. However, if a batter is retired out, he cannot bat again in a match.

Rohit got strapping on his hamstring, but things still didn’t look good for him as he had to walk off the field. Although the nature of his injury is yet to be known, but if it is serious there are chances that Rohit might get ruled out of MI vs RCB clash. However, if he recovers quickly, he might return to bat.

Speaking about the first innings, RCB batters slammed MI bowlers all over the park from the first over. Phil Salt and Virat Kohli scored half-centuries and etched an opening stand of 120 runs. Number three Rajat Patidar also scored a half-century, while Tim David hit a quickfire 34 runs to take the scoreboard to 240/4.
