The IND vs WI Super 8 clash of T20 World Cup 2026 will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

India kept their ICC T20 World Cup 2026 campaign alive on Thursday night at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. They defeated Zimbabwe by 72 runs in their Super 8 Group 1 fixture.

Zimbabwe won the toss and asked India to bat first. India then rode on half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Hardik Pandya to post 256/4. This total is the second-highest in T20 World Cup history.

Sharma had scored just 15 runs across his previous four tournament innings. He finally justified his spot in the lineup with a 30-ball 55. Brian Bennett stayed unbeaten on 97, but Zimbabwe only managed 184/6. They never truly threatened the target.

Hardik Pandya claimed the Player of the Match award for his quick 23-ball fifty. Arshdeep Singh finished with figures of 3/24. India also smashed 17 sixes. This set a new team record for a single World Cup innings.

The win still left some questions. Shivam Dube and Varun Chakravarthy gave up too many runs. India need much better results from those two against the West Indies. Nevertheless, attention now shifts to Kolkata and Sunday’s knockout contest.
