Ishan Kishan scored 52 off 34 deliveries against West Indies in the 2nd innings of 2nd test at Port of Spain.

After a spectacular all-round performance, India have firmed their grip in the second test in Trinidad. After wrapping up the innings courtesy of Mohammed Siraj's 5/60 in the first session on Day 4, the Indian batsmen adapted an ultra-aggressive template. They smashed every West Indian bowler and scored runs at 7.54. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan smashed two quick half centuries.

The visitors declared their second innings at 181/2 in just 24 overs. Rohit smashed a 35-ball fifty and made 57 off 44 balls, with five fours and three sixes, while Kishan scored his maiden fifty off 33 balls and made an unbeaten 52 runs, with four boundaries and two sixes. After two below-average performances, the left-hander was promoted to No. 4 in place of Virat Kohli, and he repaid the trust shown in him.

Ishan Kishan credits Rishabh Pant for improving his batting technique.

Ishan Kishan was promoted up the order to score quick runs, and he did the same. The left-hander registered India's second-fastest test fifty by a wicket-keeper off 33 balls. Rishabh Pant holds the record with a 28-ball fifty against Sri Lanka in 2022. As soon as Ishan got his maiden fifty, India declared the innings. Notably, the left-hander made his debut in the first test in Dominica. Earlier, India gave chances to KS Bharat, who hasn't had a good performance so far.

Pant, who suffered a car accident in December 2022, has been out since then. That is why India have been searching for a backup keeper. After the stumps on Day 4, Ishan spoke on his maiden fifty and revealed Pant's advice during his chat at NCA. Ishan said, "I was at NCA before coming here. I was practising there and Rishabh was also there for his rehab. He just got a few points for me. He asked me to you know, the bat position and everything."

Ishan Kishan added, "We have been together since U-19. So he knows how I play, what my mindset is. I think I also wanted someone to tell me a few things about my batting and it was a great time for him to come and chat with me and really thankful for that." India gave the hosts a tough target of 365 runs to win. At the end of the fourth day, they were 76-2 in 32 overs. India need 8 wickets to win, while the West Indies require 289 runs.
