James Anderson will end his legendary international career as England’s leading wicket-taker in tests and ODIs.
England’s legendary pacer James Anderson couldn’t hold his emotions as his daughter rang the iconic bell at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London to mark the start of his farewell test match against the West Indies from July 10.
Anderson, who is playing his 188th test match, will retire from international cricket after the end of the first test game against the West Indies. The first test will be played from July 10 to 14. However, Anderson will re-join the team as mentor of the side for remainder of the season.
During England’s tour of India earlier this year, the 41-year-old Anderson became the first seamer in the world to pick 700 test wickets. Anderson is currently third highest wicket-taker in test cricket history only behind Shane Warne (708) and Muttiah Muralitharan (800).
With Anderson playing his last test, the Englishman will look to surpass Shane Warne’s tally of 708 wickets during the first test match against the West Indies.
