Former England Cricket Team pacer James Anderson has picked his favourite player from India. During a chat with TNT Sports, the England pace legend was asked about his favourite player from each country.
Interestingly, Anderson overlooked master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who is the all-time leading run-scorer in international cricket, while naming his favourite player from India. Tendulkar is also the leading run-scorer for India in tests and ODIs.
Anderson picked Virat Kohli from India. The former Indian captain is arguably one of the best batters in the game. Anderson and Kohli have had interesting battles over the years with both of them having their moments.
Anderson announced his retirement from test cricket in July 2024 at The Lord’s amid the test series against West Indies, putting an end to his international career. He retired as England’s highest wicket-taker in test cricket and the leading wicket-taker among pacers.
Following his retirement, he continued to play county cricket for his domestic team Lancashire and is also active in England’s franchise cricket league The Hundred.
During a recent chat with TNT Sports, the 43-year-old named his favourite player from each country. He went ahead with spin legend Shane Warne from Australia and batting stalwart Joe Root from England, before naming Kohli as his favourite player from India.
He chose Babar Azam and Tim Southee from Pakistan and New Zealand respectively, and the latter was the only second bowler in his list. He picked batting legends AB de Villiers and Sanath Jayasuriya from South Africa and Sri Lanka respectively.
