James Anderson to take up England's fast-bowling mentor role after retirement after 1st test vs West Indies

James Anderson will play his career’s last test match at the Lord’s against West Indies, starting July 10.
Veteran England pacer James Anderson is set to be part of England’s coaching staff for the rest of the test summer after he retires following the first test against the West Indies.
England will host West Indies and Sri Lanka for three test matches each in the summer. Anderson had earlier announced that the first test against West Indies, which is scheduled to start on July 10 at Lord’s, will be his career’s last test match. He will retire with 188 test caps.
So far, he has featured in 187 tests in which he picked up 700 wickets – both records for a pacer. Only Sachin Tendulkar, with 200 caps, has played more tests than Anderson.
James Anderson to join coaching staff for the rest of the Test summer
Rob Key, the managing director of England men’s cricket, confirmed to Sky Sports that Anderson will be added to the coaching staff as England’s fast-bowling mentor for the rest of the five tests of the summer. Key highlighted Anderson’s vast experience would come in handy to other bowlers.
“He’s got so much to offer English cricket, we don’t want to see that go. He’s going to be with us all summer. It’s something that he’s very keen to do as well,” Key told Sky Sports.
“He hasn’t done loads and loads of it, but we’ve got no question about his knowledge and experience with bowling. We have a great opportunity for the rest of the summer to find out just how much he enjoys it or doesn’t enjoy it. Someone like Jimmy Anderson is going to have lots of options. I think English cricket would be very lucky if he chooses to stay in our game.” Key added.
England squad for first two Tests vs West Indies: Ben Stokes (C), James Anderson (first test only), Gus Atkinson, Shoaib Bashir, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Joe Root, Ben Duckett, Dan Lawrence, Dillon Pennington, Ollie Pope, Matthew Potts, Jamie Smith (WK), Chris Woakes.
