James Anderson dismissed Virat Kohli seven times in test cricket.

England legendary pacer James Anderson ended his glorious international career after his side won the first test match against the West Indies at the iconic Lord’s on July 13. It was a very emotional day for the 41-year-old seamer as he ended his legendary career at the very same venue where he started his international career in 2003.

The Lancashire seamer ended his glorious career as England’s highest wicket-taker in ODI (269) and test (704) cricket. In the longest format, Anderson is only behind legendary spin wizards Shane Warne (708) and Muttiah Muralitharan (800).

The 41-year-old Anderson is also the first and only fast bowler in world cricket to bowl 40,000 deliveries and take more than 700 wickets as well.

During Anderson’s legendary career, he faced some of the toughest batters in world cricket. From Sachin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli, the Lancashire seamer dominated each one of them in the longest format.

James Anderson sheds light on his rivalry with Virat Kohli

The Kohli Vs. Anderson rivalry started when England toured India in 2012. During that series, Anderson dismissed the Indian batter just once.

However, when Kohli traveled to England in 2014, the Indian batter was looking like a walking wicket for Anderson. The England seamer dismissed Kohli four times and the right-handed batter managed to score only 19 runs off him.

After struggling initially against Anderson, the veteran player Kohli bounced back in style during the 2016 and 2018 series between India and England. Anderson went wicketless against Kohli during both the series, and Kohli scored runs against him. The duo faced each other in 2021 series, where Anderson dismissed the Indian batter two times.

The Lancashire seamer once again failed to take Kohli’s wicket in the 2022 series. Overall, veteran Indian batter has smashed 305 runs off 710 balls at an average of 43.6 against Anderson. Whereas, the English seamer has dismissed Kohli seven times in test cricket.

After a tough rivalry with Kohli, the 41-year-old Anderson shared his thoughts on his on-field battle and said it was easy to get Kohli out early in his career. The legendary seamer added that after that, getting Kohli out is next to impossible.

“I feel like you go so up and down. Some series you feel amazing and then the next one, you’re not quite on it. Playing against [Virat] Kohli in the early days, you feel like you could get him out every ball; now, you feel like you can’t get him out at all and feel so inferior,” Anderson said.
