Auqib Nabi became the latest cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to receive his call-up for Team India.
Over the past few decades, cricket has expanded rapidly across the globe, especially in India, where the sport is most popular. Since the inception of the Indian Premier League, countless stars have entered the arena from diverse backgrounds and parts of India.

3. Parvez Rasool
Born in Bijbehara, Jammu and Kashmir, Parvez Rasool has represented India in the white-ball setup. He was the first J&K cricketer to play international cricket for India.
After consistently performing well at the domestic level and subsequently for India A, Rasool got the opportunity to make his ODI debut against Bangladesh in Mirpur in June 2014.
He recorded 2/60 and was dropped from the team. Later, he received his T20I call-up and played his first and only game against England in 2017, picking up 1/32. He announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in October 2025.
2. Umran Malik
Umran Malik made headlines by bowling consistently over 150 km/h in the IPL. He joined Sunrisers Hyderabad as a net bowler and soon made his IPL debut for them. The 2022 edition forced selectors to get him into the Indian team.
Umran clocked a speed of 157 km/h in that season. In the same year, he made his T20I and ODI debut for India. Later in 2023, he recorded the fastest delivery (155 km/h) clocked by an Indian bowler. Umran has played 10 ODIs and 8 T20Is for India, taking 24 wickets.
1. Auqib Nabi
Auqib Nabi Dar is the third and newest cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to receive an India call-up. After consistent domestic performances, the 29-year-old has received his maiden call, and he will be part of the Indian squad for the upcoming Test series in Sri Lanka.
Nabi has been among the top wicket-takers in the Ranji Trophy and played a crucial role in J&K’s first Ranji Trophy win, picking up 60 wickets. He was with India A for two unofficial Tests against Sri Lanka A and will join the senior men’s team as a replacement for injured Jasprit Bumrah.
