IPL 2025 mega auction took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction was historic in many ways. The two-day event saw 182 players getting sold for a hefty combined amount of INR 639.15 crores.

Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history, going to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 27 crores, while Indian middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer was not far behind, moving to Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR 26.75 crores.

Indian players were sold at handsome amounts, with Indian fast bowlers being the highlight on day 2 of the auction. The franchises adopted a more conservative approach for overseas players, spending significantly less on foreign superstars. Big names like Glenn Maxwell, Faf Du Plessis and Sam Curran received massive pay cuts compared to their last season salaries.

The event came up with a pleasant gift for the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. A total of three players were sold from the state. Their participation in the upcoming IPL season will result in the promotion of cricket in the territory.

Players from Jammu & Kashmir who were sold in IPL 2025 mega auction

1. Rasikh Dar – RCB

24-year-old young fast bowler Rasikh Dar became an expensive purchase for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Keen on the player, RCB acquired Rasikh for a whopping INR 6 crores. He was part of Delhi Capitals (DC) last year when he impressed taking nine wickets in eight games.

Rasikh made his IPL debut in 2019 for Mumbai Indians (MI) and has so far played 11 matches in the competition.

2. Yudhvir Singh Charak – RR

Rajasthan Royals (RR) signed Yudhvir Singh Charak for INR 35 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Yudhvir is a handy all-rounder who is effective with the new ball and can add valuable runs in the lower order.

MI began the bidding for Yudhvir, but eventually were outbid by Rajasthan. Yudhvir has taken 20 wickets and scored 140 runs across 28 T20 games. He was part of the MI squad in 2022.

3. Umran Malik – KKR

One of the fastest bowlers in the Indian domestic circuit, Umran Malik was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the accelerated auction on day two of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Umran was initially unsold in the auction, but was later picked by KKR for his base price of INR 75 lakhs.

Umran will add depth to KKR’s bowling lineup. The extra pace and bounce of the Eden Gardens will suit well to Umran. He will partner Harshit Rana and Anrich Nortje in KKR’s pace bowling cartel.

Umran played 26 matches for SRH from IPL 2021 to 2024, snaring 29 wickets in them with a best of 5/25.

4. Abdul Samad – LSG

Lower middle-order batter Abdul Samad found a new home at Lucknow Super Giants. After being released by SRH, for whom he played five seasons, he was bought by LSG at the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 4.2 crores.

Samad has so far played 50 matches in the IPL and scored 577 runs. He has hit 37 boundaries and smoked 36 sixes in his IPL career at a strike-rate of 146.08.
