Jasprit Bumrah bagged two wickets against South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final.
It was a historic night for the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team as they defeated Aiden Markram-led South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final in Barbados by seven runs on June 29. However, this victory was mainly because of India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who once again showcased his class with the ball.
In the T20 World Cup 2024, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumarh had a dream run with the ball. The right-arm senior pacer played eight games and took 15 wickets. Bumrah’s economy throughout the tournament was just 4.17.
In the high-voltage finale, the Indian spearhead Bumrah once again showed his class with the ball. While defending a stiff target of 177 runs, the senior pacer just gave away 18 runs and picked up two crucial wickets of South African batters Reeza Hendricks and Marco Jansen in his four-over spell.
We are over the moon after winning from a losing stage: Indian pacer Bumrah
After delivering a match-winning spell in the final, the right-arm pacer Bumrah said that his side were in trouble, but they are now over the moon after emerging victorious from a losing state. Bumrah further said that he didn’t have many words to express what he was feeling after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title.
“Usually I’m the one who tries to keep my emotions in check and get the job done but today I don’t have many words, I don’t usually cry after a game but the emotions are taking over. We were in trouble but we’re really over the moon to win from that stage. My family is here, we came close last time and we got the job done, there’s no better feeling than to get your team through in a game like this,” Bumrah said during the post-match presentation.
The Indian pacer further added that he kept himself in a bubble and tried not to overthink. Jasprit Bumrah won the Player of the Tournament award for his dream run with the ball in the tournament.
“It just felt good, tried to keep myself in a bubble and tried not to think too far ahead. When the big day comes, you have to do it, throughout the tournament I felt very clear. I always think about one ball and one over at a time, don’t think too far ahead,” Bumrah added.
