Jasprit Bumrah posts emotional update on his injury status, as supporters wait for his return
Jasprit Bumrah underwent back surgery early this year and has been out of action since September 2022.
Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has posted an emotional video on his Instagram account providing an update on his recovery from the back surgery he had early this year.
Since September 2022, the ace fast bowler, who is regarded as one of the finest of his generation, has been out of professional cricket and has been receiving treatment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
According to reports, the team's medical staff worked to ensure that Bumrah would be healthy for the 2023 ODI World Cup, which begins in October of this year. His inclusion in the Indian team for their forthcoming three-match T20I series in Ireland is also highly anticipated, and on Tuesday, Bumrah all but confirmed it.
Before this, videos circulated on social media of Bumrah bowling in full tilt in nets at the NCA, upping the hopes of his fans for a return to the Indian team. In his absence, India failed to win both the Asia Cup 2023 and the T20 World Cup 2023.
India also lost the final of the WTC 2023 to Australia in London. Bumrah had also missed the IPL 2023 season where he was supposed to partner up with Jofra Archer for the Mumbai Indians franchise.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, posted a video collage of him in the nets at the NCA with the song ‘I’m Coming Home' by pop act Diddy-Dirty Money in the background. He also tagged the Indian cricket team's Instagram account.

Reports have suggested that Jasprit Bumrah will return to the Indian team on the tour of Ireland where the Men in Blue are slated to play two T20I matches. This can prove to be good practice for the pacer ahead of the important Asia Cup 2023 tournament.
