Jasprit Bumrah played just three games in the ENG vs IND series.
Indian Cricket Team fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah didn’t get clearance to play the fifth game of the five-match series against the England Cricket Team. The match between the two teams is taking place at The Oval in London.
Jasprit Bumrah was scheduled to play only three games in the series against England. It was decided, due to his workload, ahead of the series, that he would not play all the games, as team management is looking at the bigger picture with several other tournaments around the corner.
Jasprit Bumrah featured in the first game of the series at Headingley in Leeds and was then rested in the second match at Edgbaston in Birmingham. He returned to the XI for the third game at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London and also played the fourth game at Old Trafford in Manchester.
With the series on the line, it was expected that Jasprit Bumrah would play the last game at The Oval as well. Even team management mentioned that the fast bowler is fit for the fifth match, but they will take the call on the morning of the match day.
However, things unfolded as expected, and Jasprit Bumrah didn’t feature in the XI for the Oval test. What caught the attention of many was that he was also released from the squad for the fifth test.

The reason behind that has finally been revealed. As per the reports of Mumbai Mirror, it is learned that Jasprit Bumrah didn’t play the fifth test, not due to workload, but the knee injury.
A source close to the developments confirmed that the fast bowler is suffering from a minor knee injury. He also added that the pacer is under the observation of the medical team, and they are waiting for his scan reports.
“Unfortunately, Bumrah is suffering from a knee injury. The good thing is that it’s not a major one and won’t require surgery. The BCCI medical team is currently awaiting his scan reports.”
Bumrah is now expected to begin his rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE). It remains to be seen what the extent of his injury is.
Bumrah finished the England series with 14 wickets under his belt. He also picked two fifers, one at Headingley and one at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
