Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Steve Smith with a slower ball in the IND vs AUS final.

The final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India are taking on Australia in the biggest game of the tournament. The game started with Australia winning the toss and deciding to bowl first. India got off to a flying start, with Rohit Sharma scoring 47 off 31 balls. But once Rohit got out, Australian bowlers all over India kept taking wickets.

There was a 67-run stand for the fourth wicket between KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. Both batters scored fifty each. Virat made 54 off 63, while Rahul scored a rusty 66 off 107 balls. But that was the only moment when the batting looked in control. Australia bowled in a tight line and dismissed India for 240 runs on the final ball of the 50th over.

Jasprit Bumrah gets the wicket of Steve Smith

Considering the average first-innings score at this venue, which is 251, India made a below-par total of 240 runs. It was never going to be challenging against the strong Australian batting. However, Indian new-ball bowlers somehow managed three wickets in the powerplay. David Warner got out for 7, and Mohammed Shami provided India with the first breakthrough.

It was followed by a double-strike from Jasprit Bumrah. He dismissed Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith in a span of two overs. He dismissed Marsh for 15 runs, who was looking dangerous. Then, on the final ball of his fourth over, he dismissed Smith on a slower ball. Surprisingly, Steve Smith didn’t review and went off, but it was a brilliant change of pace from Jasprit Bumrah.

Australia lost their third over at 47 in 7 overs. That wicket brought Marnus Labuschagne to the crease. He and Travis Head are looking to build up the partnership, and all the onus is on the Indian spinners. The ball is turning, and a lot will depend on how Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav will bowl in the middle overs.
