Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action since the completion of Sydney test of BGT 2024-25.
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has resumed bowling in the nets at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as he continues his recovery from the back injury he sustained in January 2025.
The news comes as a massive relief for Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Indian cricket team, both of whom rely on Bumrah as their premier pacer.
In his absence, MI has had a nightmare start to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign, losing their first two matches against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT).
While Deepak Chahar managed to take early wickets against CSK, the franchise lacked sharpness in their pace attack against GT. Their next match, scheduled for tonight against KKR, will further test their bowling depth on the batting-friendly pitch of Wankhede Stadium.

A user shared a clip of Bumrah bowling at the NCA on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “Bumrah has started bowling in NCA. Don’t know when he will get the clearance but feeling better after watching this clip.“
Earlier, Bumrah sustained a back injury during the fifth and final test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 in Sydney, which ruled him out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in February.
Bumrah has since been undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, formerly the National Cricket Academy (NCA), in Bengaluru.
Bumrah was nearly unplayable in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 and finished with 32 wickets in the five-match series at a bowling average of under 15. However, his heroics weren’t enough to prevent India from suffering a 1-3 defeat.
MI are currently placed ninth in the IPL 2025 points table with zero points from two games. They will need to string together wins quickly to turn their season around.
