Indian ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah shooed away questions regarding his retirement from any format of the game when asked during Indian Cricket Team’s felicitation ceremony, which took place at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Thursday, July 4. The 30-year-old was one of the main heroes of Indian side during their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.
The ace pacer brought his best form at the T20 World Cup 2024, where he picked 15 wickets at an economy of less than five and later won Player of the Tournament award.
The veteran speedster Bumrah became the second Indian player after star batter Virat Kohli to win the prestigious Player of the Tournament award in the T20 World Cups till now. The Indian pacer also achieved a huge milestone of having the best economy in T20 World Cup 2024, among the bowlers who bowled a minimum of 20 overs.
In the last five overs of the chase, when South Africa were looking in commanding position, Bumrah bowled two overs at the death and restricted runs from the one end. He also took the wicket of Proteas all-rounder Marco Jansen, which put more pressure on them. He ended with match figures of 2/18 in his quota of four overs.
At the end, Indian vice-captain Hardik Pandya defended 16 runs in the last over and helped his side clinch the thrilling final by seven runs in Barbados on June 29.
