[Watch] Jasprit Bumrah uproots Prithvi Shaw's leg stump with a perfect yorker

Jasprit Bumrah registered match figures of 2/22 against Delhi Capitals.

Jasprit Bumrah showcased his brilliance with the yorker in Mumbai Indians’ (MI) first win in the IPL 2024 over Delhi Capitals (DC) at home in Mumbai on April 7, 2024.

DC skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rohit Sharma (49) and Ishan Kishan (42) secured an 80-run start in the first seven overs, while Hardik Pandya scored 39 runs as DC regained some momentum.

However, Tim David (45* in 21 balls with two fours and four sixes) and Romario Shepherd smashed the DC bowling in the death overs. Especially Shepherd, who took Anrich Nortje for 32 runs in MI’s 20th over, including four big sixes, scoring 39* in 10 balls.

MI scored 234/5 from 20 overs. Nortje shot 2/65, while Akshar Patel was the best bowler from DC, taking 2/35.

Prithvi Shaw’s dangerous knock ended by Jasprit Bumrah’s searing yorker

Following David Warner’s dismissal for 10 runs, Prithvi Shaw and Abishek Porel launched an attack on MI’s bowlers. They accumulated 88 runs for the second wicket until Shaw was dismissed because of Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliance.

Shaw, who was batting 66 with eight fours and three sixes, faced a picture-perfect yorker from Bumrah, which clattered into the leg stump as Shaw attempted to save his foot.

Despite Tristan Stubbs’ best efforts, which included 71 in 25 balls with seven sixes and three fours, DC managed just 205/8 in 20 overs and lost by 29 runs. Gerald Coetzee took 4/34, with Jasprit Bumrah taking 2/22, as MI won their first IPL 2024 match.
