Jeffrey Vandersay dismissed Riyan Parag for 15 runs in the third ODI.

Sri Lanka star spinner Jeffrey Vandersay dismantled debutant Riyan Parag’s stumps during the final match of the three-match ODI series at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 7.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, hosts Sri Lanka scored 248/7 in 50 overs. Avishka Fernando played a terrific knock of 96 runs. Apart from Fernando, wicket-keeper batter Kusal Mendis (59) and opener Pathum Nissanka (45) also scored valuable runs for their side.

For India, debutant Riyan Parag had a terrific day with the ball. The spinner dismissed three batters and conceded 54 runs in his nine-over spell. Earlier, Parag was handed his maiden ODI cap by senior batter Virat Kohli.

During the 16th over of India’s innings, Lanka spinner Vandersay bowled the second over of his spell. On the last delivery of the 16th over, the Lanka leg spinner outclassed debutant Parag with a leg-break delivery, which the batter completely misjudged because the ball went straight instead of turning away

Parag didn’t cover his stumps completely and left the ball. The ball then crashed into the off and middle stumps. The 22-year-old made 15 runs in 13 balls, including two boundaries, in his debut ODI innings.
